Week 49 2023

The last week of classes is done. I am gassed, as are students. We’re all ready to be done.

Last year, I moved away from finishing the semester with a big project turn-in, replacing it with a smaller, more immersive project to finish the semester. It has worked well. Students appreciate a different mode during the final weeks of the semester, and I enjoy working closely with them to synthesize all we’ve learned.

This year, I worked with students in IMS 354: Intermediate Interaction Design on a Place-Based Experience project, and we all had a lot of fun. In two weeks, students went from nothing to a place-based story incorporating screen-based and in-person interaction design.

Now, I need to revise the website at xd.designworkbench.com to make students’ work live. I have a lot of work ahead of me.
