Week 50 2023

The Hunger Games books and movies are hot in our house right now. My daughter is discovering them for the first time, returning memories of when I first read them. For the record, I read The Hunger Games to learn how to speed read. My instructor shared that young adult fiction is a great way to learn speed reading because the vocabulary is accessible.

I got hooked on the books, as did my wife and now my daughter. They hold up well.

Last night, we saw “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” and now I want to read the book. There are so many stories to tell in the Hunger Games universe—and so many ways to explore how societies can (and should not) govern themselves via sci-fi and well-developed characters.
